A driveway made with concrete is generally more expensive than a gravel or asphalt one. However, it is also considerably less pricey than brick/cobblestone and paver ones which requires maintenance to make sure they don't break down over time.

Also, the price of maintaining these types are driveways significant as compared to that for an all-concrete drive.

The combined strength and longevity makes concrete a relatively good value for large areas of paving. As a driveway surface, concrete is more expensive than gravel and asphalt but it's cheaper when pitted against other substances such as cobblestones/bricks & stone pavers.

For heavier vehicles like trucks and SUVs, a minimum thickness of five inches of concrete is recommended. Additionally, the driveway slope needs to be sloped towards the street at least one percent for proper drainage. This means that every foot away from your home should have 1/8 inch difference in elevation so water doesn't pool on or near your property line which can cause damage over time as well as create an unkempt look around it if you don't maintain it properly!

A 4 inch concrete driveway can hold up to approximately 8,000 lbs. It is typical that most concrete driveways are poured four inches thick, giving the concrete driveway enough strength to withstand loads of regular vehicles.

Concrete driveways are a great way to increase your home's value. On average, they can raise the price of your property by 5-10%. Not too shabby for something you don't have to break the bank on!

Most concrete driveway installation costs between $1,800 and $6,000 or $4 to $15 per square foot. The average is just above $3,000 or $6 per square foot. Pricing depends on location, size, decorative elements, potential reinforcement and whether or not removing the existing surface is needed.

With proper care, your concrete driveway can last for 25 - 30 years if it was originally installed properly and you take care of the surface. You should pay attention to wear & tear and keep your driveway well maintained during each season in order to prolong your investment.

As concrete hardens and starts to lose the excess water, shrinkage begins. If the concrete is unrestrained, no cracks will develop because there's not enough room for them all. However, sometimes too much emphasis is given on dried-shrinkage of hardened concrete as being a criterion of susceptibility to cracking instead of some other factors like age or how it was poured in relation its environment.

If you're having new concrete poured, consider the following ways to prevent cracking: -Start with a sound subgrade. Make sure that is compacted. -Modify the mix so it has little water and cement in order for there to be less shrinkage of particles .-Use an aggregator such as sand or stone dust if possible instead of fly ash because when mixed together they create very strong bonds between particles which increases durability by preventing cracks from occurring too soon after drying occurs; remember not all mixes should contain these additives however since some like slabs only require 5% aggregate replacement while others need more than 25%.
